We started the evening off with the Pow Wow. Since the rodeo and Pow wow were at the same time, we decided to see a bit of both. We saw the Grand Entrance at the PowWow. There were so many dancers parading in and the outfits were great! There were also a lot of drummers and singers. It took a while for every one to enter and then they played the equivavlent to their national anthem. The tribe that hosted it was the Sac and Fox nation, but there were a lot of tribes represented, like Seminole, Cherokee, Muskogee. It was funny because Andrew and Ally have been trying to spot license plates from all 50 states (we only neeed 5 more!!) and many native nations have their own plates, so we saw a few extras!
After that, we headed over to the rodeo. It was a lot of fun! We saw calf roping, barrel racing and of course, bull riding. But the highlight of the night had to be when they called all children under age 12 down. Being novice rodeo goers, I asked the man nexted to us what it was all about. He said any kids can go to the arena and they let out a few calves and some have ribbons on them. The goal is to try and catch one and get the ribbon. So Andrew decided to do it (Not Ally, does that surprise anyone!?) The only slight hitch was, apparently it had rained heavily before we

got to Oklahoma, so the ground was MUDDY! WHen the kids went down, one got stuck and another lost a shoe!! But Andrew went running anyway! He got close at one point but the mud got him!! But he had a great time doing it!!
The picture is a little hard to see but that blue shirt on the left is Andrew and the calf is on the right! And that is him after his big rodeo debut!!! Luckily, they had a hose and we hosed him down!!
I don't think I have ever seen a bigger smile on Andrew's face. This has been some trip for him. I give him a lot of credit running after that calf(Who by the way didn't seem that small)and for putting up with all that mud. But I guess being a kid, this must be a dream come true! Andrew and Ali must have so many stories to write. What was Ali"s favorite Pow Wow outfit? Did it have a lot of beads or a lot of feathers? Did Ali try to do some of the dance steps? I don't know if I gave you this site, but I just came across it again...freetobeaz.com. It supposedly has points of interest in Az. Not that you will have any down time, but just in case you are passing by something you might want to check out. Good blogging and good driving.

They are both having a great time! WE have so many more great pictures, just too many to post. Ally liked all the outfits. She didn't try any dance moves because we didn't get to see much after the grand entrance. We've danced in the circle at other pow wows but the dance moves they teach at Mrs. Rosemary's are nothing like these!!! We don't really get internet service while we've driving but I'll try and look at that site before we pull out this morning.
