So I know I am a few days behind, but the last place and really slow service and it was taking too long to upload photos. I am working on adding new posts now. But a quick recap of our past few days: after the brick festival, we went to the Pow wow and the rodeo. Andrew even participated in the rodeo!! (Details and pictures to follow!)And Ally now says she wants a horse. After that we drove to Norman, OK, location of Oklahoma University. It was a beautiful campus, and yes, we saw the new Rainbolt building! Andrew now says he wants to attend college there and be a Sooner (between horses and college, this trip is becoming more costly than we thought!!) After that we stopped outside of Amarillo, TX at the Cadillac Ranch...10 Caddies buried half in the dirt sticking straight up. We continued on to New Mexico..so pretty there. After spending the night there, we woke up and have finally made it to Arizona. We spent the day in the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. That was amazing!! The colors were like nothing else we've ever seen and the petrified logs were really unbelievable. We stayed for about 5 hours and probably hiked close to 3 miles. We are now camped for the night in Holbrook, AZ and tomorrow we will be at the Grand Canyon!!! Pictures of everything are coming!!!

  1. I was a little concerned when we hadn't heard from you, but happy to hear all is going along so well. I can't believe you are in Az. already. Did Ally get to ride a horse? Did you take pictures in front of the Rainbolt Education Bldg.? Is OK. flat and all farmland? I had been looking for your post and then realized you are a few hours behind us. Well, I'll check in tomorrow to see the latest. Let us know about the Grand Canyon. Remember they hae a sunset bus tiur and a daytime bus tour to 2 different rims of the Canyon. I think it should be good with the heat. If you want more details e-mail me or answer me on the blog. Goodnight from NYC. Love Mom/Nana

  2. No, Ally didn;t get to ride a horse, but she keeps talking about riding one!! Maybe somewhere else along the way! OK didn;t actually have that many farms; it had more cattle ranches than anything. Tomorrow we get to the canyon but with check in at the hotel and all, I am not sure exactly what we are going to do. If you have a extra day in your trip, you should definitely visit the Petrified Desert and the Painted Deseert. I think it's only a couple hour ride (I'll know definitley tomorrow!!) but it was amazing!! Andrew and Ally both loved it, even with all the walking. But you also drive and stop at all these scenic viewpoints so you don;t have to walk at all if you don;t want. I'm going to poat pics tomorrow; just too much to do for tonight. Funny thing about the time..we have been paying careful attention to when we switch time zones but when we got to Arizona we were a hour off. ROb and I kept saying but we didn;t go into a new time zone!! Turns out, Arizona does not participate in daylight savings. SO they are currently the same time as CAlifornia. If you came back in the fall/winter, they would be the same as New Mexico. So when you visit, be prepared!!! If we need any info on the canyon, I'll let you know. Thanks!!

  3. Last night Aunt Anna and Uncle Allen were here and Aunt Anna remembered that they didn't participate in daylight savings time. So we were trying to figure out the time. I started to realize something had to be off when your blog came in late(for us). I know you all get to bed early. A hotel on Wed.? Wow! you won't know what to do in a bed that doesn't get miles to the gallon.
