Stops Along the Way

On our way to New Mexico, we decided to stop at OU. Andrew was excited to see the stadium (it was closed but we were able to walk around the outside). He decided to practice his pose for when his own sculpture is on the campus! He looks like a natural, huh? As you can see, we found the Rainbolt school of education, It is actually undergoing construction now...I'm sure it will look great when it's done!!!

It really is a beautiful campus; the buildings and the grounds are so nice. It was really big too!

We made one more stop before reaching our final destination. Just outside of Amarillo, Texas, there are these Cadillacs buried in the ground. There are 10 and they stick straight up. You can actually see them from I-40. People bring spray paint and sign their names or draw something. We didn't pack any spray paint, so I grabbed a few Sharpies and figured that would have to do. However, when we were there a woman was nice enough to let us borrow hers, so both Andrew and Ally sprayed their names onto cars. AS you can see, you can climb them too!! It was definitely worth the stop!!

  1. Love the pictures of OU. I had no idea it was such a beautiful school. How are you getting the horse home? Love all the pictures - the rodeo. Chasing the calf is harder than it looks. Gives a new appreciation for what Steven did for a living. Glad you guys are having so much fun. Enjoy the Grand Canyon. Grandma

  2. Great photos, great posts.

By the way, here's a quickie quiz: You mentioned the Pow Wow was hosted by the Sac and Fox Nation. Do you know who is/was the most famous member of that tribe?

  4. Was Ally actually holding up that car all by herself? When did she get so strong? Ally, sorry about the typo on the other blog. It is cloudy and also hot in Poppa's room with the computer, so I'm going fast and just realized I made a mistake.

  7. Does Worry Wort Andrew know that vandalism & spray painting is against the law?! I guess the Cadillacs is a special scenario. How ever did you read about those & know how to stop, anyway?

  8. Toniann: I told you to come along..we could have fit ypou in!!! Yeah, could you imagine us trying to tow one of those cars home?!?!

Meredith: I don'think Andrew thought about it being illegal since everyone does it...kind of special circumstances. But, I was thinking I should be concerned with how easily he got the hang ot it...Ally needed help to do her whole name, Andrew got it after one letter!!
I'm embarrassed to say how we knew about it...Jamie told us that on that show Tori and Dean they were driving cross counry in an RV and I turned on one episode and they stopped here. Rob looked it up online and later as I was researching stops on Rt. 66 it came up again, so we figured it was a good stop. It is literally right off of I-4o...no other roads to get sidetracked on!!
